This is russell DHG 03986 my lease on my explorer is up in 3 months and i want to pick up a police interceptor to drive as my every day car anybody with info on how i can pick one up please email me at [email protected]
Bought mine via ebay from http://www.government-fleet-sales.com/ (formally kcpolicecars.com) Very easy to deal with. Had it shipped to Florida.
I suggest a 2003 or newer due to the new suspension and Performance Improved parts.
Stay away from a 2000 (I had one of those, too). It's the "de-tuned" CVPI.
I have 2000 CVPI with 3.55:1 POSI with 134,000 miles I'm thinking of selling, been driving it for about 4 years with hardly any issues, I love it because it has never let me down..... I don't know anything about being detuned, the 4.6 in 2000 is a pre PI head engine, so maybe thats what Bears34 means....
2003's do have the better supension and the better heads
Didn't they also strengthen the frame and hydroform the front clip? And some have fuel tank shields, but that's a plastic pan in the front of the tank to help keep it from rupturing in the event of a rear ender. Not sure of when those upgrades happened. Engine upgrade makes a difference in output on the order of 14 more hp with PI heads. They were 225, and went up to 239 hp. Give or take. Added to the civilian version with the CV Sport package a little later as standard equipment.
In the past I have purchased two pre-owned (2001 & 2003) Crown Victoria Police Interceptors from Cheyka Motors in Wisconsin. They were great to do business with. http://www.usedcopcars.com/
Last week I purchased a new (2007) Crown Victoria Police Interceptor from Sutton Ford Lincoln Mercury Fleet sales in Illinois. They were great to do business with as well. http://www.suttonpolicecars.com/
