Problems.....

Bullittoid, it sounds like you and I have a few minor problems with our cars! Our dealer has sent in a few pictures of our instrument cluster cover (plastic) trying to show the scratches on it. They don't seem to show up on pics. We said to take it outside and look and take pics and the light has to hit it just right to see the bad scratches buy the trip meter! We think we will have to get a whole new instrument cluster!

We had the dealership yesterday buff (try to) out some scratches on the hood. It is the second time and hubby is VERY upset today that they are still there and thinks that if they buff any more it will take off the clearcoat and down to the paint. We found MORE scratches as we looked her over more carefully. We are wondering now, if they should just get a whole new hood or paint it when the paint comes in?

He is at the body shop now seeing when they can sdjust the rocker panel on passenger side. Then over to muffler shop to see about the tips. Thanks, Nasty Bob, for the info on the welding of the aluminum tips! appreciate that!

How many other people think that the blue tire caps are tacky? We are going to get some chrome ones real soon! Even the dice ones would look better than those off-blue ones! LOL

UPDATE: Ford OK'd new instrument panel cluster for the scratched one! yeah! Going to just deal with the scratches on hood (minor). Got exhaust tips done and rocker panel.

I found chrome caps with chrome sleeves that slide down over the stems. They look real good. Found them at Discount Auto. Have some hood/rear deck lid/door alignment adjustments to take #365 in for. Found a spot on the rear deck lid that looks like something was spilled and then an attempt to buff/polish it out. It is only visible in direct sunlight and only at just the right angle.

Blue valve stem caps? You got BLUE Valve Stem Caps? Mine are dark grey......
I had teh blue ones as well.. I replaced them last weekend with a nice set of brushed aluminum ones. They look worlds better.
I am up early today on my day off as I am taking Bullitte back into Ford this morning for them to clean off the compound mess that they left all over my baby! Hubby is pretty irate over it (he washed her the night before he took her in to have the buffing done)so I am taking her in instead. There is compound ALL OVER the hood-in the seam- and in the honeycomb in the scoop, and on windshield--well, you name it! It wasn't that they were in a hurry either as he left it down there for hours!

Then while I am down there I will point out the uneven dash on the passenger side and the bolt showing above the C-pillar on passenger side. It is at the top of the window at the seam. It doesn't meet at the seam-there is a gap there, unlike on the driver's side.

So far so good with the CatSmash mobile.
I noticed the wimpy blue stem caps too. A guy at worked called then lavender and made a kind of girly noise while he swayed his hips around. I punched him in the gut and stuck one cap up each of his nostrils.

I have some brushed alum caps now - they are hoopy froopy cool as ice.

on my bullitt the red powder coating on the caliper is flaking, my dealer told me I,m to fussy and let it along. I spent almost 4,000 for this pakage. and I feel that they shoud resolve this problem. I like to know what the othr dealers are telling you guys and gals. My dash is the same way my son picked it out, tell me what is fussy and what would be considered not. thanks, I still feel we all got a real good car besides the malformaties

Tell your dealer to kiss your you know what and fix it. That sort of attitude is unacceptable. This is a collectors vehicle (no matter what its actual value will be), and you paid a premium price for same. The dealer should realize the sort of advertising he will get with a happy Bullitt owner.

Personally, I'd talk to one of the salesguys and get a face to face with the Dealer's Ford rep the next time that person is there.

MAKE them correct it, and consider finding a new dealer.

My two cents.

ditto, they can fix it to YOUR satisfaction OR see you in court(if it comes to that) you did indeed pay an extra 3800.00 for this vehicle AND YOU ARE THE CUSTOMER!!!!!!!
the red calipers are one of MANY elements that make this car so special to us!!

Anyone having a problem with a chemical smell in their Bullitt? Some type of chemical is causing me a sore throat, blood shot eyes and a migraine headache. The first few days I had the car I left it in the sun in hopes the chemical smell would dissipate. Now three weeks later, I take a five hour trip and am sick after driving only an hour in the car. Anyone with similar problem and hopefully an answer?
CWBrown,
How is your AC doing? Several Bullitt ACs have had bad o rings and leaked. Mine let go under the hood and even two days later you could still smell it standing next to the car. I was glad that it did not leak inside the car. I left the hood up for like6 hours and it seems to be gone. If the AC is not blowing real cold you might want to have them check there first. Good luck...
My Bullitt reeked of engine coolant (anti-freeze for you guys north of the Mason-Dixon Line). It took about 2 weeks for that to go away. No idea why, no leaks. the only thing I can think of is that they spilled it when the car was filled. Engine heat vaporized it. ???

All is better now, including the "new Mustang interior smell" better known as plasitic.

3000+ miles and getting stronger...
Ya know what really frosts my cookies?

It's when you go to your Dealer and the service guys know nothing about the Bullitt.

After having them change my oil with Amsoil synthetic (which I brought) they spilled it all over the fender and engine without cleaning it up. Then the body shop mooks dented my rear fender trying to fix a bent trunk hinge.

I asked them how many of these cars have they seen? They said, "I guess this is the only one. I said, "Now your getting it. This is it. Now get that throught your F##[email protected]*^ skull before you put another hand on it.

The owner of the dealership has two classic stangs. I gonna talk to him on Tuesday to see if my car will get some respect.

Two Stang, I know how you feel.

i recently heard through a source that ford knows the quality of the car sucks and that you should b&@ch to the dealer about your problems. remember though that ford has reduced the amount they pay the dealer on warrranty repairs so don't expect the dealers best tech to work on your car. i had the rear tailight replaced by some kid who doubles as a car porter. i think he had help. if you have problems call the regional service rep the dealer has the name and number. if you get no results look through other posts or post in other ford forums i'm sure others have gone throught the same headaches.
