Just got thru putting on my h pipe and it sounds goooood! These factory mufflers sound great with the pipe. My question is, I don't know if the MAF has learned the pipe. It seems to have less torque at the bottom end but seems to rev into the powerband quicker. Will the torque be back once the computer gets accustomed to the new addition or is it lost and gone forever? I would appreciate any input from those who have done this mod.

Thanks,
sixgun

I dont think it will take long for the MAf to relearn, if at all. You dont need a chip unless you dont have MILS for the rear 02's...... good mod for the price, I dont think you can beat an H pipe at all. 110 vs 600+ for x pipe and new cat back.....

Am I missing something? MAF learn a new mod?

Isn't the MAF a meter that measures the amount of electricty required to heat a wire in the intake stream?

If the air is cooler it take more voltage, if the air is moving faster is takes more. This voltage amount is then sent to the "computer" and the "computer" decides how much fuel should be injected for the atmospheric conditions. The computer has been pre-programmed with the injectors lb rating and it knows how long the injectors need to fire to create the proper A/F ratio with the dynamic MAF information.

How does the MAF have anything to do with a H-pipe?

Well I have heard that, even with the MILs,the computer will figure out that the cats are missing,on O/R pipes, and pull the timing back(retard). I haven't seen a back to back test on a dyno to prove this. Just what Paul,of PHP had said. But my car does run better with this setup.
