Has anyone used the aluminum 17X4 Bullitt/Cobra spare wheel as a front runner for race use only? A 205X50X17 tire could fit well and are cheap at $58.00 a piece.
I compared the wheel construction to a pair of 15X4 T-Bird SC spares,I used to run many years ago on my 85 with great success. The T-Bird wheels,are machine turned from a solid piece of aluminum and appear to be a bit thicker in the mounting flange area,than the two piece welded center Bullitt wheel. I was concerned about any possible pulling thru of the lug nuts,at speed or wheel center failure.

I also wondered this but it says speed no faster than 55mph, but people still use them faster than that.

I think it would kinda of be up to your comfort level and what the track will allow.

If you change the tire it should be fine. While the spare tire is quite durable, I don't think a track would let you use it. Using the rim shouldn't be a problem.

I have done it. I replaced the spare tire on both my bullitts with Hoosier 26x7.50R-17LT radials. These tires are ~ the same diameter as the stock tires also.
