I am probably really reaching on this one. Anyway last night I scuffed my wheel where the rim meets the tire. It's not that bad but it's not perfect either. Does anyone know if Bullit Owners can snag a Factory Bullit Rim either through the Factory or E-Bay..whatever. I just don't want to have to buy four new rims for such a small problem. Thanks Fellow Bullitt Owners.

I scuffed mine too. I think I scuffed 2 of them. I was wondering if rubbing steel wool on the scuff marks would smooth them out

I'm in the exact same boat...one scuffed.

You know what it's from???
From trying to park as close to the curb as possible to prevent idiots on the other side hitting the car. Now who's the idiot???
What to do????

There's some sort of plastic/clearcoating on the rim. Steel wool would smooth it out but you'd end up filing down good areas on the wheel.

I guess I feel lucky--I've only scraped one rim--and I've done it more than once... As long as I keep hitting that same one before I replace it I don't care!

I took the 129.00 hit and ordered another wheel though karkraft.com. That's not that bad of price to pay to have perfection again.
The Bullitt deserves perfection. Thanks for the advice guys!!

Just as an FYI--I e-mailed Pat Haney from Haney Motorsport... I asked him that with his access to GT pulls, if we could buy wheels only (in quantities of one or two) for scuffed wheel replacements. Unfortunately, he said no--he'd only sell them as the whole 4-piece set with the Good Year tires for $840 (locks, lugs, and all) + s/h. But, if you know someone with say a V6 or GT Deluxe who wants such wheels & tires, this is a great deal...

His site is at http://www.haneymotorsport.com

My wife nicked one of mine in two places the 1st time she drove it. It just wasn't bad enough to replace the wheel. I bought some aluminum color touch up paint and it covered it very well. It's much harder to see now.

STOP!!!!!!

I just bought a BMW M Coupe for my wife a few weks ago. When we got it, the wheels were absolutely covered with curb rash, and even had some chunks taken out. When I went to the dealership, the service guy noticed my wheels and told me that they had a vendor there that could fix em up. I went over to the guy who had his shop all set up in the back of his truck and got a quote. For $25 a wheel, this guy sanded, buffed and painted over the scuffed up wheels. Unless you look really close, you'd never notice that anything had been done. My friend owns a 99 Porsche and has had the same thing done to his wheels, looks great.
PLEASE take a moment to open up your yellow pages and find a wheel repair place, a much better alternative to buying new wheels every time they get a little curb rash on them!

Good Luck!

BTW...I got 2 rims to replace them....$135 each...didn't have to buy all 4 and tires too....I can't remember where off the top my head...but if you are interested email me and I will find out and let ya know. I was going to have them repaired...hehe...they wanted 125 each...nope....new ones for 10 dollars more thank you.

Did anyone else get the "tire and wheel protection" from Ford when they bought theirs? It covers the rims for 6 years, unlimited miles, and the first set of tires up until they have 5/32" tread left. It was a couple hundred bucks (Canadian) but it already paid for a new tire (found a nail) and I will be having my wheels fixed soon. BAsically, if the wheels aren't perfect, they will fix them, or replace them, for 6 years.

On this top, be wary of automatic car washes.

Avoid any carwash that has metal guide rails like the plague.

Decent car washes use teflon or plastic covered guide rails. These will not damage your wheels.
