Does anyone else find it impossible to keep the seat belts in the oval retainers on the front seatbacks? Please let me know if you have a neat fix. I've thought of black electrical tape over the slits, but I know that would look like Southern Engineering--which won't get it, if you get my drift.

I removed these retainers completely. What an improvement! For one thing it looks alot better. I've never had a car that has had these before. I don't regret removing the "pain-in-the-as*" things...

I don't have a problem with the holder, but there is a twist in the driver's side belt so it won't retract properly. Then I get in and half the belt is hanging out the door. I figure it out when I can't buckle the seatbelt. Arrrgh!

Why is it that the belts are twisted? I know there was a string about this a while ago but it never reach a conclusion.

My problem is that I am too tall to use the holders. It feels like the belt is pulling me down. My loops have been empty for several months.

Someone had posted a simple fix here in the past. By using a piece (2") of clear (I used black) flexible vinyl hose, you can get at Home Depot, and sliping it over the ends, the belt won't slip out any more. I think it was 3/4" dia hose I used. Now it's easy to reach the belt, it doesn't slap agains the hard plastic side, and doesn't slip out.

I don't even notice it!

I'm the one who posted that fix a few months back. I'm glad someone finally tried it and it worked for them.

I, on the other hand, have never had a problem with these belt loops (my '96 was a different story). I'm not short (6'2"), but I've never had the belt in the '01 fall/pull out of the loop. Guess I got one of the good Bullitts, eh?

HEY, THANKS FOR THE GREAT FIX KFENGLER. I just knew someone had come up with good way to solve this irritating problem. I'm on my way to Elliot's as soon as the snow lets up! Yes, I said snow, here in Dallas and in early Spring, already. Ole #845 is snug in the garage, while my Q-45 gets all the dirty work. HaHa. Thanks again, and this is probably a good Shade Tree entry. But I don't have a clue as to how to move it!

I have not had a problem with belt coming out on my BULLITT or my wifes '01 V-6. We did have a '97 GT and the door panels were cut extremly bad by the seat belts not being in the headrest loops.(bought used damage done by earlier owner) If you remove the loops BE CAREFUL!!!!!

Thanks to both Karl & Retromuscle for the fix. (Also, a Thank You to whomever moved this to "Shade Tree".) I haven't made to Elliot's (the local, has everything hardware store) yet, hope to tomorrow. Will report on work after it's completed. I've only been a member of this Club a short time. It's really nice to find so many nice people that love their Bullitt's as I do, and are so willing to share information. Thanks to all....

Has anyone found a nice set of seat covers that go with these type of seats and seat belt retainers without having to cut a hole in each one (to accommodate the retainer?)?

Argh!!!

John- in all the books/webpages I've been through, I havn't seen any seat covers specifically for the Bullitt. I'm not sure what would fit in a generic cover either. I'll close, maybe another bullitthead can help. Sorry....

I put the TUBING in really hot water to soften it up, and being wet also helps slip it on... it takes a little muscle but worth it for me!

A little bit of muscle? I thought that I was going to have a coronary! We used a silicone lubricant too!

I probably will hate it because the retainer sits so low, but I couldn't pass up a cheap mod without trying. We'll see.

Thanks for the info.
