On my way back home from Georgia, I stopped at a Cartersville exit to fill up. As I pulled up to the pump I noticed this Mustang GT with some additional badging. My plan was to get the gas flowing into my car, and as it was filling up go over and ask the driver some questions about the car. But then I discovered as I started to pump the gas, that their was no gadget to keep the handle down, so I got p*ssed and started cursing the pump, and by the time I cooled down, the guy was driving off. I hate that.

Any way, it had markings like Tribute Edition, Shelby, GT500, etc. So when I got home, I did a internet search and found this.

http://www.mustangfx.com/carsforsale.html

It appears to me that all this car is, is cosmetics. It looks like Carroll Shelby is just selling out his name. What makes this seem a little sleazy, is who ever his partner is, it appears that, that guy is a light porn or porn producer or seller.

Maybe we should come up with a certified Bullitt tribute edition. Charge a few hundred bucks for a piece of paper and Bullitt lettering???

Nasty, do you know the specs on the Series1? I went to the Shelby plant a while back and saw those cars, they are really cool, I wonder what their 1/4 mile is.

And, is it a GT? it look like a V6 with make-up and a Shelby autograph.

Are you sure it's a GT? Those are V6 wheels and nowhere does it mention that it is a V8. It just says custom dual exhaust, K&N filter and ram air. I would expect someone to ask more than $18,500 for a GT signed by Carroll Shelby. But hey, I could be wrong (as I am often).

Too much of everything. Signatures, badges, numbers, plates, pictures of Shelby on the body?!. Just plane old overkill. The only thing I do like, of course, is the metal I.D. tag on the car and the certificate. Sure woulda been nice to get those with the Bullitt. But we've all been down that road before.

The ad makes the an already bad idea worse. He makes it sound like the changes will make the car a totally different animal that will be worth tons of money only b/c Shelby himself signed the dash and a piece of paper.

I've met Carroll, and I just can't believe he'd get involved with this level of tackiness. Oh well....

VERY STRANGE CAR!
I am also surprised that Mr. Shelby would
have anything to do with that car!
I just detailed a 1965 Shelby GT 350 and I am feeling ill because of that VERY STRANGE
CAR...after working on a piece of Shelby
history!

What a pathetic, tacky piece of crap! Carroll Shelby built his reputation on the racetrack, not at a car show. Somehow the type R decal says it ALL. He should post pictures of that thing on a riceboy website and not try to pass it off as an enthusiast's car. If he wants SOO BAD to do something that would be a tribute to Carroll Shelby, he should have at least started off (or ended up)with a performance car.

I happen to own one of the Shelby Tribute Edition Mustangs. No, it didn't come from Ford that way, & I don't pretend it's a Shelby. I wanted something that was different from every other Stang on the road, without making major changes to the car I love. I have shown my car all over the Memphis area, and have never come away with less than a 2nd place trophy. Last year I got a 2nd place to a brand new Bullitt by ONE point. He bought the car on Mon., drove it home, then took it to the show on Sat. He had less than 100 miles, my car had over 25000. Last month I got a 1st place trophy at the MCA National in Pensacola, FL in the Daily Driver class, over a 1999 35th Anniversery Limited Edition that had only 8000 miles. Mine had 35000. I love my car enough to drive it, not hide it in a garage (for an investment). This appearance package is a tribute to Carroll Shelby for all he has done for automotive history. By the way, part of the proceeds from each sale go to the Shelby Children's Foundation. While I may not agree with all Dave(owner of Mustang F/X) has donethe basic appearance package is attractive, and generates a lot of good conversations at the shows & the pump. And I didn't pay an extra 5K for 5hp. Get off your high horses & get in your Stang. We are ONE community after all. I know this is a long post, and the thread is very old. but I just saw it tonight, and felt I had to respond.

EXCUSE ME.But I was at both of those Car Shows. At Memphis you WERE a Display car because you are a member of the Mustangs of Memphis. In Pensacola you did not place. Remember you were sitting next to me at the Awards. This is a small country and some of us do travel. As a member of MCA , I travel to all the National Events. You know my Bullitt.I have the FIRST PLACE AWARDS FROM MEMPHIS AND PENSACOLA.

Richard (mb4875)is a well respected member of this club and MCA(as well as a former SCCA/Trans-Am racer). he is well within his rights to report things as they happened. i know him and trust his telling of the shows as they happened!

but 2250, please don't start calling people names and flaming......i may agree with everyone's assessment of that particular car but no attacks please! each to his own and try not to bring the comments down to a personal level...i know how feelings get out of hand sometimes but try and take the higher road if possible
