Hi everybody,

I have a 01 Bullitt with H&R sport springs which I installed years ago, and now I need to get new shocks and struts, as one of the shocks has blown. I was therefore thinking to upgrade the entire lot.

I have been looking into old discussions but would like to get feedback from someone more knowledgeable on this subject than I.

My Bullitt is my "daily" driver during summer time. I however drive the Bullitt less than before I had the kids.
I never go to the track.

I have been looking into the Koni STR.T or the Bilstein HD(B6).
Is the Bilstein a must and worth around USD 400 more. Or is the Koni´s STR.T good enough?

Do the Koni´s handle the H&R Sport springs?
Looking for a better ride than the originals with the H&R SS.

If the Koni STR.T are good enough, then I will go for those. But if I will regret those later, then I would rather take the Bilstein and be USD 400 poorer.

My 01 had 115,000 miles with worn out stock shocks and struts when I purchased it in 09. Weekend Cruiser for me so I kept the stock springs and went with the Koni STRT struts and shocks and KYB rear axle dampers. Corners like it’s on a rail for a decent price. Click on my setup below. 👇

I've used Konis and they are good but the Bilsteins are on another level. They will literally transform the handling of the vehicle to a level above the Koni shocks. They also have a lifetime warranty. My father taught me "Buy the good stuff and you'll only cry once and you usually pay for what you get." You will not be disappoint if you chose the Bilstein.

Not being an expert in this field, could you advise the difference and which ones of these Bilsteins I should take, as they look different (given that I have thr H&R SS springs):

Another option to consider is Koni adjustable sport shocks (the yellow ones). They’re top tier shocks, like the Bilsteins, but offer adjustability in how firm or stiff of a ride you prefer. They’re ideal for a daily driver that might see some track time or mountains curves on weekends since you can quickly adjust the ride quality and weight transfer. I have a set matched to Steeda sport springs (650 lb front/200-250 lb rear spring rates) and they seem to mate well when adjusted up to about 1/4 - 1/2 turn from full soft for daily driver duty.

I also have Koni Sport single adjustable shocks and struts with H&R SS springs on 1625, set at full soft for daily driving. The car has a firm but comfortable ride on Florida roads, (no potholes or frost heaves) and handles like it's on rails. Good luck with whatever setup you choose.
