I moved the Tri-ax to the lower position this weekend & took the Bullitt out on the streets & did some takeoffs. Does anyone else think the lower position is too short? I kept messing up the 2-3 shift, 'cause it was so much quicker than what I was used to & a lot stiffer (for whatever reason). I'll probably leave it the higher position for normal driving, especially since my wife drives it more than I do & I know she'll be annoyed with shorter throw. I figured I'd just move it when I go the track, but if I can't get used to the throw length it's kinda pointless. Anyone else have a similar experience?

I had the triax in the upper position for about ten days and then moved it to the lower position where it has been for about fifteen days. I like the shifter in the lower position since it allows for shorter shifts. Plus I can rest my forearm on the arm rest/console and shift without lifting my arm. I think the shifter looks better in the lower position. I think you will get used to the 1-2 quicker shifts in time.

I prefer the Tri-Ax in the low position and leave it there all the time. However, since you are more comfortable with it in the upper position, I would leave it there for track and street.

At the track, I would think any advantage of the shorter shifts would be outweighed by the unfamiliarity of the shifter throw.

You might want to look into the MGW handle. One of the advantages of the MGW handle is it can be adjusted a couple inches in length. So it can be adjusted to be just a bit longer in the lower position, yet it would not be as high as the upper position. The throw would change maybe just enough that it is between the short throw and the long throw to be more comfortable for you.

I ended up putting the stock stick on the TriAx. The combo of the TriAx and the stock stick feels taller than the stock guts. It's pulling the boot tight so that's about as tall it can go without mods to the boot.

I couldn't get over the feel of the short shift, even on the tallest setting.

The shortshift is what I'd want in a Miata. In the torque monster, I want a RatFink-style shifter poking thru the roof. I've been eyeballing the chrome skull knob with ruby eyes.

I may be giving up a few tenths of a sec, but if the car feels 'bad', I don't like driving it.
