Thanks, Midlife.

Is the filter itself really subject to road matter in the fenderwell?
A sudden downpour would have me very concerned.
What does the "up" position look like?

I believe there were a few people here that thought the filter got dirtier quicker with this setup. For mine I could not tell that there was much room to move the filter up and down. I kind of centered mine in the open area and left it at that. I doubt you would have a problem with water though by the time the water got the filter wet you would a whole lot of other problems. Been there done that. BMW 325's had a very low intake and I tried to make mine a submarine once.
