So is it completely true that the ONLY place to get the DHG paint for body work is through the Ford Dealerships?

I find this hard to believe and somewhat disheartening as my Ford dealership body work results have been less than satisfactory.

Anyone know? Thanks.

The consensus is correct. Any respectable body shop mixes their own paint, all you need is the paint code. And as Nasty said above, our paint code is PY. The dealer can order touch up bottles, but as a lot of people learned here, it takes months. If you were to go to a dealer for any significant amount of paint, they most likely mix it themselves.

Your car has a code on it for the paint. The body shop will match that with the paint shop they get there paint from. The delership body shop does it exaclty the same way, they go through a paint shop to get the color.

Good luck.

Bud who painted for many many years

My local paint shop(mixing dudes) did a pre spray on a 12x12 panel and took it out to check it next to the car, make sure your car is clean and compare the color in the sunshine from all angles, this made me feel better before they shot it.......
