How do we really know what our ignition timing really is??? On my 85 LX,I check it at idle for initial timing, and up to 3000 for total at 35 degrees. Now you can see your initial timing on the Bullitt at idle, with a timing light. But I would like to monitor mine at speed under load conditions. The signals and inputs are there going to the computer,I just need to find a way to read them with a digital read out. Wouldn't it be nice to see what you actually have, then verify what a chip is,or isn't doing for you, instead of taking someone's word for it! Anyone know what the total timing is on these engines. Can I pick up the signal at the test port, under the steering wheel?

AutoTap is excellent. They now have a Windows version of the software(there is still a DOS version available). If you have a newer laptop with no serial port, you'll need a USB to DB-9 serial adapter (also available from them: $39.95). If you don't have a laptop, you can pick one up very cheaply on ebay (all you need is a 486, a 640x480 screen, a 9 pin serial port, and DOS).

Here's a 233 Pentium for $100: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2004447519. Better deals for older laptops too ($5): http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2004598561
