I have a 2001 Bullitt which when I apply the brakes, it makes this noise almost like grinding. The longer I hold the brake pedal to slow down some more, the louder it gets (this doesn’t happen all the time I apply the brake).

I want to say it is the suspension but not sure if the suspension makes such a noise.

This all started to happen, atleast from when I can remember, when I changed my catback system to the SLP loudmouth catback exhaust but I doubt that I might be the case.

i recently have changed the rotors and kept the old brake pads since it has a lot of material still. The car also makes some loose metal rattle noise when a bump on the road exists.

any ideas?

Does it do it turning left or right? Could be a wheel rubbing on something? Broken end link? Jack up the car and see if you can duplicate the noise. Look for rub marks. Rust in between pads and rotor? Caliper pin loose, caliper rocking?
Good luck.
