What's the spline count on the Bullit rear diff? I want to order the correct Ford Racing parts, I see both 28 and 31 spline
for the Mustang 3:73:1 gears ...

Ummm, Those are part numbers for an Auburn Differential. If gears is what you need, the part number is M-4209-F373. All 8.8 rears take the same gear, whether it be 28 or 31 or whatever spline, whatever differential.

OK, thanks for clueing me in on the part numbers. Does the Bullitt already have a limited slip in the rear diff? I had an Auburn limited slip diff in my last car's
rear end - a Ford Explorer modified for offroad, had 4:10 gears in it, borla exhaust etc.

It already has a Trac-Loc diff. As to your original question, is it 28 or 31? I couldn't answer that. I would assume it is a 28. But when buy gears it doesn't matter. If I were going to upgrade differentials however, I probably wouldn't choose an Auburn.
