It is amazing how many more details surface about the movie and the chase scenes.

I suggest you read the chapter on the Mustang in a book titles " McQueen's Machines...."

It is the story behind all of his cars and bikes. It gives even more of the ":behind the scenes" details of the cars, movie and chase scenes.

Watta great article.
Bud Ekins (not Elkins) passed away this past October at age 77. Ekins also did the motorcycle jump over the fence in "The Great Escape" as a stand-in for Steve McQueen.

If Im not mistaken, Max Balchowsky was a well-known sports car driver/builder and campaigned a car that he built and drove, Old Yeller.

They dont make 'em like those guys anymore. Now dangerous scenes are computer generated and done on a monitor screen thats surrounded by geeks who ride bicycles to "work".

That's hilarious. Hallalujah to that. :)

One interesting line in the article starts out a paragraph with "It's been 19 years since BULLITT was filmed, however the magic of this special movie has not diminished." Here we are now 40 years later and the magic has not diminished. :)

The article was originally written by Susan Encinas with support from Anthony Bologna. The Encinas family owned a 68 DHG movie car replica as well and Anthony has shared many memories with his friends.

Since Susans own text web site went down long time ago, the text was made available with Anthonys permission again on http://www.ponysite.de/susanencina_replacementpage.htm

Obviously the upper mentoned link is one of a few cyberpirates who copied the text and copied as well some pictures from our (other) BULLITT site without asking at least for permission, which would have been better manners.
