Anyone know how many Ford plans to build?
I was at my local dealer and one of the sales
persons told me they are sold before they
ever arrive at the dealer and never sit in
the show room. I have seen no T-Birds on
any show rooms locally. I want to look but
can't find a "birdy". I have only seen one
on the road. BTW, the sales person said they
were marking them up $6,000!

Speaking of which, my father wants one. If anyone has any red convertables in their area dealers, let me know. Or better yet, if they know the asking price, let me know too. It will make my father happy. The dealers in this area said it is a two year wait on them if they are preordered. But, that is Wyoming, land of sand and nothing else. Maybe some of the larger dealers have some better numbers.

Thanks all

I've seen a yellow one at the dealer I bought 1007 at and it was presold before it got there. I was told that the Dealership tryed to talk the new owner out of it, so they could aution it off starting $5000.00 higher than the sticker of $35000.00. He said naw so they paid him to keep it in the show room for a couple weeks.
This past week we had our monthly club meeting and when I drove up they had a Black one on the show room floor and a red one on the pedstal outside.
The name of the dealership is Cavalier Ford in Chesapeake Va. 757-424-1111, ask for my salesman John Clark. Tell him Jimmy Ray sent you.
I also saw a red one in the drive though at McDonalds on Base. Freaked me out! I stopped the lady driving it telling her she had beautiful car, and when asked what did she think she was doing to a car like by getting food and drinks in it. She responded that it was only a car! Must have more money than sinse..... Must have been an officers wife......

We've delivered 3 of them. We had a yellow one that was ordered, but the owner had an illness and couldn't take delivery. A guy in TX bought the car, paid $5000 over sticker and sent a carrier to pick it up here in PA and ship it to TX. He told us that this is the 34th T-bird he has bought. He sells them in TX for $10K over sticker. Ford is making about 20,000 for 2002, they were all ordered over a year ago. Same production scheduled for 2003 and we already have people lining up for orders.

PY,
I wondered if you caught that!
ROV means Remote Operated Vehicale (spelling sucks) I have a old shipmate that retired as an AO1 and he's doing it now. He say's they pay alot. But you must travel alot. ROV's are the little robot subs that Oil riggs use. I figure as many cruises I've been on whats a couple weeks fishing off a Oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico can't be to bad.

Jimmy Ray, that sounds like really interesting work! Now why was I thinking that ROV was an abbreviation for "retired old veteran"? KIDDING!

Take care and FLY NAVY!

Holy cow! I just came from the Ford dealer
where they had a new T-Bird in the showroom.
The mark up was $13,000 from a $37,000 sticker
price...$50,000 total asking price! Nice car
but not THAT nice.

Hmmmm you guys should check out their forum at BON. Looks like more than a few are proud of the fact that they paid $5000.00 plus more than sticker. That whole dealer mark-up thing is the sole reason I'm driving a Bullitt and not an '01 Cobra and boy am I happier than a "pig in @#$%" about that.

Dowling Ford in Cheshire, CT sells them at MSRP (Ford requires this on this car) No markups are added. They don't believe in them.

When was the last time you heard of a dealership thinking about the customer first and then their pocketbook?

They may have already sold out their allotment for 2003. :-B

Bullitt 289, I have never heard of a dealer
doing that...very cool of them!

BTW, I love the text in your sig! I would
really like to say that to some "problem"
passengers at Delta sometimes.

While #196 was getting new oil this morning, I got my first look at the new T-bird. Markup was unabashedly listed as 15K (making it 54K). Nice car, but way to much $$$.

The black Lightening though (4K markup) got me thinking...
