Hi guys,
Just removed the stainless steel MAC FlowPaths and had the ProStreets (model #6224 - $69 each) installed. If you're in Tucson be sure to use Exhaust Works...They do first class work. They mandrel-bent-fabricated flow tubes from the MAC "H" to the new Spintechs, welded my mid-"H" connection (which I had with only a clamp before) and did the mufflers and hangers for only $60 total (what I consider a good deal. The Prostreets require flow tubes to be done right because they are about half the width of the stock mufflers).
After the drive home I can tell you this:
SOUND
The sound is as loud and mean as the MACs were, so I'm happy about that...an almost equivalent sound.
DRONE
The 2-2.2k drone was reduced about 90%! Still a bit noticeable (because I know what to listen for) but not the least bothersome or painful. In fact the drone is much reduced over even the stock Bullitt mufflers.
VISUAL
The stainless MAC FlowPaths were little pieces of automotive art...rounded corners, smooth little neat welds. The Spintechs are ugly little alumized steel welded-up boxes. You look at it and all you see are welds. I tell ya, it's WORTH the ugly look, though!
PERFORMANCE
The car seems MUCH more rev-happy going up and down the RPM range. Seems smoother all-around.
CONCLUSION
I would like to thank Moljay for turning me onto this product and for all his patient email responses to my questions. The guys at SpinTech wanted to talk me into the larger, quieter mufflers (the Sportsman Street with 6 traps inside). Being ignorant of their product, that's what I would've bought...but Moljay saved the day by recommending the smaller Prostreet (3 traps).
Anyone looking for awesome musclecar sound, great perfomance and NO drone will be very happy with these! I know I am!

Thanks for the report Dennis, I am still toying with the idea of going with the MAC Prochamber and plug-in IML eliminators....
leave the stock Bullitt mufflers in place.

Sure would like to hear your setup :???:

BULLITT 3373,

I have the Prochamber offroad, stock mufflers and MIL Eliminators. No light and an awesome sound. I absolutely love it! Quiet under cruise conditions and sounds like NASCAR when you nail it! I love dropping a gear and hittin' it just for the sound!

BTW, did you know the original BULLITT sound was not the 68! It was dubbed over with NASCAR racecar sound! I didn't know that!

Wade, doesn't the offroad pipe eliminate the cats? Won't that create a problem for Texas emissions?

Just woondering.

Whoops! You live in Dallas huh...

San Antonio (Bexar County) only has the safety inspection, no emmissions!

However, you shouldn't need an inspection for 2 years right? Only takes a few minutes or about $100 to switch it back for the inspection (I'll bet some of the local speed shops have a list of inspectors in their pocket if you know what I mean.)

Yeah, I think that I will just wait. Who knows, maybe we will move once my wife graduates. When I was still in school, I used my parents' address (out in the middle of nowhere) so that I didn't have to worry with emissions, but now I can't.

Hey guys....I had my spintech mufflers installed last week. Kept the rest of the exhaust stock for now. The sound is incredible and very little drone. Highly recommend the spintechs...and like the above post stated, get them with the flowtubes. Good luck in your decision.

I think we might be starting a new trend here with the Spin Techs. I installed mine last week too, but I got #6334 (2.5") and had them change the pipe to 2.5" all the way back. I'll try to post pics later of my install with 4" satin finish tips.

If I knew I'd have to put in totally new flow tubes I would have done the same as you (2.5 all the way) and weld on the stock exhaust tips. Good on ya! Enjoy!!! It's a GREAT sound isn't it?!?!

This is getting weird. I too had SpinTech Prostreets installed three or four days ago. I first heard them at the San Francisco meeting and ordered them when I got home. I took them to a local muffler shop that does custom exhausts and paid them a hundred bucks to have them welded in. Nobody said anything about flow tubes but he did say they had to make some changes in the exhaust. I'm really pleased with the sound and as long as they don't fall off I think I'll be happy. Damn, this all started with one of those little dash plaques with my Bullitt build date and number on it. More cheers, Tony

Hey Dennis, the sound is soooo sweet. Hopefully I won't get pulled over for modified exhaust in my Bullitt too. Originally I wasn't going to redo the whole system, but the muffler shop I always go to gave me a great deal which included Dynomax mandrel bent tailpipes. I also got a deal on the Spin Techs, $59 a piece, total install cost w/mufflers $300 plus tax.

Tony, at the next Bay Area meet, we should see how many of us put the Spin Techs on.

An update on the sound...a little more refined, exotic sounding than the MACs...but still loud and all muscle...all together a more pleasing sound. Seems to breathe easier, and be more rpm happy. Also seems to mask (not reduce or moderate) the cold engine knock a little better.

Yep...all new pipe from the H-pipe connection flange to the mufflers...everything stock from behind the mufflers to the tips.
