2731 came back home from Team Ford in Marietta, GA today. New Tranny, Flywheel and 11" Ford Racing Cobra Clutch Kit. It's perfect! No 1-2 catch. No grind in any gear. No high pitch whining in 1st or 2nd. No throwout bearing tick. Smooth as butter. Quiet as a church mouse. Worth the 3 week wait.

PS: No dents or scratches either. They parked it in a special spot. It pays to keep my service advisor supplied with his favorite beverage. Bud Light.

How did you manage to get those particular parts? Did you ask for them or did Ford decide on the best solution for your problem? And were they covered under warrenty?

Yes, do tell. The 1-2 grind/crunch is getting too bad and I must get it looked into.

After several days now I have to report it is like driving a totally different car with this new tranny. My service advisor said this tranny came directly from the assembly plant. I have to believe that Tremec did some recent engineering changes to fix the TR3650 1 - 2 cold crunch. It is truly a pleasure to be able to run through the gears without any fear or hesitation.

Ford has replaced the 1-2 shift fork in #2371, but it still shifts just as hard. In my case, it appears that the clutch is not full disengaging/releasing with the pedal all the way to the floor. They've adjusted it, but I believe it's the actual clutch assembly, i.e. disc, pressure plate and flywheel. Something's not right. Maybe, your situation was similar to mine, and was finally cured with the repalcement of your clutch assembly. I took #2371 into the Ford dealer today for both the piston slap (death rattle/knock) and the shifting problems. Ford has given me a loaner vehicle, while the try do something towards fixing the car. I'm not that optomistic!

This 11" Cobra clutch thing kind of bugs me. It bugs me because somewhere I read that our Bullitts came stock with the 11' Cobra clutch. We should all have them. It was one of the upgrades for the Bullitt. Problem is, I can't remember where I read it...

The 2001 Bullitt has a Tremec TR3650 transmission.
The 2019 and 2020 Bullitt have the Getrag MT82.
