How much of a drop in 1/4 mile times do you think is possible from a 3.27 - 4.10 gear swap. Is 3/10 - 4/10's dreaming? Is is possible that by having to shift more often you could actually loose time in the 1/4 mile or 0-60.

Absolutely it's possible to be slower with 4.10s. Driver skill is not replaced by parts.

As for shifting more in the 1320, in my Saleen I was into 4th with both 3.27s and 3.73s, 4.10s are a given that you'll be in 4th.

0-60 with 4.10s is one shift, I don't remember if I could 60 in 1st with 3.27s though...anyone? If you can do 60 in 1st with 3.27s you could definitely slow down due to a poor shift with 4.10s.

3.27s:

1st gear @ 5900rpms = 40mph
2nd gear @ 5900rpms = 69mph

4.10s:

1st gear @ 5900rpms = 32mph
2nd gear @ 5900rpms = 55mph

The biggest advantage of the 4.10s over the 3.27s is in first gear. You can 60ft the car a whole lot better. But once you get rolling, the gearing advantage becomes less and less with each shift. The tranny gears are 3.37 1st, 1.99 2nd, 1.33 3rd, 1.00 4th.

If you screw up the launch and spin 1st, they will not help you much at all. But if you hook it up, they could help .1 - .2 in the 60ft and .2 - .4 in the 1/4 ET.
