Great pictures, Brian! (and James and Heike!)
Great Pic's Jim!!! Missed you on the track. Mike is quit the Tiger on the track!
Thanks, John - I missed being on the track more than I thought I would. After the last track day, I had more or less planned this one as a photo day, and the clinking noise in the car just confirmed it. I love the technical problems of photographing the cars on different parts of the track, and I only made a few mistakes. I should have started on the straight between turns 2 and 3, because when I finally got there, the sun was behind the cars and the pictures turned out a little dark. Also I used a slower speed trying to get a little more blur into the wheels and background, but just ended up with a softer focus. Still decent, but not as sharp as last time.

Mike was having a blast! I haven't talked to him to see how Sunday went, but he was sure grinning a lot on Saturday.

I'll be back on the track next time. Hopefully we'll have even a bigger group of Bullitts on the track in May.
I had my camera ISO set at 200 Should have left it at 100. Did get a lot of good shots. Speed setting was good. And I should have left my excelerator pumps alone, Jet change was good though. Live and learn. I think coming out of 4 and 5 would be a good spot and coming out of 9 into the straights would also be a good place.
WOW Race Car right out of the Box

Just got my internet back up, went down this weekend. Humidity, heat, and old cable components. Anyway...

AWSOME!!! I loved the weekend at Willow Springs...when's the next time? Knew the Bullitt was a fantastic car but had no idea what it would really do, a race car right out the box yet tame enough for the street! Just before the first run Saturday I wasn't so sure this was a good idea??? Once the Bullitt and I warmed up HOLY S**T!!! When the Bullitt got unleashed there was no stopping it! I thought the Bullitt's performance was nothing less than spectacular! I really had an incredibly great time this past weekend!!!
Extra bonus all American Muscle Cars...no rice annoying rice burners with fart boxes for mufflers. Nothing like the sound of a Boss 302 screaming down the track 5500rpm!!! Very enjoyable group, especially us Bullittheads! How cool "No rules just behave!".
On Sunday got a lot of comments on how cool it was to see all those Bullitts on the track at one time. I did meet my nemesis at the Chevron station, leaving Sunday I yelled out "Your the guy I've been trying to pass all weekend now I can finally pass you" #14 Daytona Coupe. He laughed and we talked for a bit. He owns a Daytona Coupe Resto/Repair shop in LA...really nice guy, invited me up to check out his shop and lunch!
PLEASE more pics want to relive every moment possible!!! Brian, John, Jim THANK YOU for all your efforts to make this event happen! Mike, Tom and Rick you guys make it a whole lot more fun! I had the time of my life...can't wait till the next one!!!

He grinned alot on sunday too. What a blast. My thanks to you Joe, for taking the time to guide me on the track. It will take me some time before I believe that " If my car can do it, so can your's." Did I say " what a blast?" Could not stop smiling. If you own a Bullitt, your car is tailor-made for this track. Plan on both days.

The stands right there are a pretty good place to shoot from.
Mike,
It was my pleasure to give you some tips on how to go faster! You'll get the hang of it, Saturday afternoon you were leading us and really tearing up the track! When you and your car is on the edge the feeling is incredible! I'm not in competition I just wanna go as fast as I can. If I had anything to do with your grin I am humbled an I served God well! Thank You for hanging with me Sunday...I was tired and about ready to go when I asked you if you were staying, you said yes and I figured why not stay this opportunity doesn't happen often. Anyway Mike Thank You for your companionship and company Sunday! And yes I'm planning on both days next time!

May is next event, However they(the club) is requiring us to have SA 2015 rated helmets(I just bought my 2000) The reason is Insurance, I talked to them they agree our rated helmets are safe but they keep the insurance low with updated things like this, Most clubs(track day clubs) you can use MC helmets and you self tech...you also get a scary day at times as you have all sorts on track. Cobra Porsche and real race groups all follow the actual race rules, So we have till May to get SA 2015 helmets. We stayed till 1:30 Sunday, I ran the first 2 groups and did good, I only pulled out due to fuel and attempt to same my tires for next time. May lets all do a few laps bunched up, I'm not that fast but I can get you guys on a bit faster line, I actually did look down going into turn one at brake marker I was at 135, faster cars are at 140 145, remember the slowest guy is still only seconds from the fastest. Everyone drove great and the Cobra Club likes that we are all squared away no issue group. They are very happy we are there. Great Job!!!! Note if you want to see some real wild stuff and very historic you MUST see VARA Nov 7-8...it is worth the drive..some of our group races this too.

Also I joined the OC Group now for the 2nd year, I did as they seem the most low key, you will get a few items they invite you to lots of stuff and they will keep you up to date on track stuff Here is there page its 50 bucks for your entire family, you will get some swag. It really helps and they accept and love Bullitts.

Perhaps we can look in to a group buy for the new helmets ? Anyone have any contacts ?

That sounds good Tom, perhaps while at SEMA I'll ask some vendors for a group buy discount

Was this at a different time than the driver's meeting? I wasn't there, but Mike said his understanding was that SA2010 would still be acceptable. I was going to get Shari a helmet but I'll wait now until I'm sure.

Also, any info about parking, access, etc. for the VARA event would be appreciated. Is it just like when we were there? Wristbands and park in the paddock area? Shari, Mike and I are thinking about going out there on Sunday.
Jim THANK YOU for the cd with the pics and video's!!! Also my understanding was Snell 2005 would be acceptable but I probably heard that wrong??? I'd would be interested in a "helmet group buy" Rick.
yes they made a mistake at Drivers meeting telling people that as of January they want the SA2005...well they mean SA2015 All the REAL race groups ask for that, I would not worry they are popping up on e bay we will find them, its all about insurance if and when someone gets hurt the insurance will want the proper helmets, other Track Day clubs are using about anything but all it takes is one crash. Most the people had SA 2010's so many will be sought, I would still keep your other for passenger lunch sessions or if you go to a Autocross etc.
put 40 bucks a month away by March all done
