Last month I had tire disintegrate on me while on the highway in rush hour traffic. When I had the tire replaced I found a nice large screw. So most likely the tire was already low when I got on the highway. After a few yards of running at 70mph and riding on the sidewalls it let go completely.

Anyway while researching the remote tire pressure sensors I was reading how our low profile tires are hard to notice that the tire is low.

To compare I took a pic of the left rear at 32 through 10 psi at 2 psi incruments.

Here is a pic of the 32 and the 10 psi pics. You can see how EASY it would be to hop in your car and just take off with out noticing the low tire.

Seems kind of cheap but the remote tire pressure units run around $280 that I want to get and I can't afford it right now, so I bought the cheap little colored coded tire valve indicators that turn red and yellow when your tire pressure is low. Works for now. Just an FYI.

Not really, Toooo hot to wash the car when I did that, the car had two whole days of collecting dust. I was going to hit it with the duster but the dust was so even I left it alone.
You should see it now, just washed it. Love the smell of Z-7.

I feel cheated MLC388. PY would have used 1/2 lb increments and included every picture. Thanks for the info. Dave

The second week I had my car I picked up a nail in the left rear tire while driving home from work. I could not even tell that the tire was low. After the light turned green at a stoplight I took off and the flat tire did not keep up with the rotations of the rim. A simple tire repair turned into a tire replacement as the sidewalls shreaded.

You would not believe how many flat tires I have thought I have felt in the Bullitt since then....

Thanks for the heads up and the red and yellow valve caps are a good idea.

Good pictures. It is hard to tell if they are low!
My wife keeps me pretty busy with flats. She has 205/50x15 tires, and they are hard to tell when there's a 10-15 psi difference too. I've gotten into the habit of using my thumb and pushing on the side wall of the tire. This gives me a good indication if the tire is low!
I have a set of those valve caps, but have never used them. Maybe I should try them on the wifes' car!
