Yesterday I had the oil changed and had the right front calipre replaced at the Lincoln-Mercury Dealer that I work for. While the car was on the lift I did a visual inspection of the entire underside of the car.The trans serial number is on an ID tag on the right side of the case towards the top. There is a decal that say TREMAC original equiptment trans on the left.I too am experiencing a catch with some difficulty in shifting from 1-2 shift.I checked the ford database for TSB and recalls. There is a TSB directly related to our problem. It states that some transmissions were assembled with an inadaquet 1 to 2 shift fork an authorizes repairing with a new and improved shift fork assembly and replacing of any damaged components within the transmission,it does not athorize replacment of the transmission as some people have reported.I will have mine repaired at a later date and time for two reasons, one,at a later date the may authorize a replacement instead of a repair;and two,the more miles that I get out of the original the better because then the more miles I will get out of the repaired or replaced trans.Hope this helps!
