Hi all,
One of my wheel lips got a nasty scuff during a tire change last year; I've posted about this before here and here. My dad--a highly experienced paint and body man--offered to try to fix the issue but he lives out of state. He is coming in this weekend and plans to lightly sand the scuff, fog in some clear, and then hit the lip with his buffing wheel. Before he arrives, however, he asked me to try to find the exact clear coat that Ford used on these wheels (a satin?) to ensure that everything blends properly. I've contacted Ford dealers and local paint shops but no one can identify a specific clear. Has anyone on IMBOC done any touch up work on 08-09 Bullitt wheels, and if so, what clear did you use?
Note: if we aren't able to get things looking right by sanding, fogging, and buffing, I'm going to take the wheel off the car and have the shop that caused the scuff redo the entire wheel lip (they are a full-service restoration shop, and they offered last year to do the repair if I wasn't able to resolve the situation on my own).
Thanks, as ever folks,
Dr. Blank
