Well, we got our Sweet 3185 back from the dealer a couple of days ago as they have had her since the day after Christmas. This was the second go around to get rid of this horrible screaching noise the tranny was making in 4th gear (mostly) at about 40 mph. Anyway, they got it fixed right and it actually feels better than it did when we bought it. The only thing I didn't like is they put Mercon in it instead of the Moblil 1. But I was going to replace that anyway so no big deal there. I didn't get to speak with the tech so I don't know exactly what the problem was but I'm guessing he didn't either by his comments on the work order. One of the bearings was probably bad even though it wasn't showing signs of wear.

Anyone care to interpret this...

My friend and I installed the Tri-Ax and that feels great, but I haven't got to test drive it yet. It was snowing pretty hard when we were done so that will have to wait.

And now I have to get our little Neon fixed up because Teresa smoked a deer last night and it buckled the hood and messed up the front bumper and head lights too. Always something.

The best I can decipher is;

Items 1,2 &3 are labor to r&r the gearbox

Item 4 is the test drive

Items 5 & 6 are bearings

Item 7 Gasket kit

Item 8, 9, 10 , 11 Syncronizers

Item 12, Don't know

Item 13 Various shims

Item 14 Shifter fork assembly

Item 15 5 quarts of Mercon oil

Well, in addition to the Tri-Ax installation I also switched the tranny fluid to Redline D4 and added the 8 oz. of prolong. The result is fantastic. 1st to 2nd shifts a vastly smoother in the cold and a total non-issue once warm. I have drove back and forth to work 3 times so far (60 mile round trip). That was all pretty tame driving but last night we took her out and did some pretty agressive driving and all the quick hard shifts and downshifts were flawless. The only thing that would make me happier with this situation is longevity. And of course only time will tell on that but for now I am really happy with the tranny.

Also, I got the Redline online from autoil.com . The only reason I mention this is that I was blown away by the quick shipment and email notifications of what was happening. I ordered Sunday and had the D4 on Wednesday. I love great service!
