One mod I am considering is a Tri-ax Shifter. I drove my neighbors 2000 GT last Sunday which has a Tri-ax. Nice GT, I liked the short throw shifter, although after shifting with a stock, it took be few tries to get the feel for it, along with his 3.73 gears.
Something I never realized, with a short throw shifter, you have to reach further for the shifter. I was pulling myself up out of the seat to shift. But then again as I’m typing this, I noted he had his seat more reclined than I would have mine. I only moved the seat back but I didn’t adjust the back. I don’t consider myself really tall, 6’1. Is their any one here of my height or higher that’s using a short through shifter, and if you are, are you having to pull your self out of the seat to shift? Or was it just the reclined position of his seat that was making me reach?

Use the Tri-Ax base and the MGW handle. That should work perfectly for you.

I have tried my friends '94 GT with a short throw shifter and felt I was reaching as well. In the Bullitt I have adjusted the seat so I am comfortable and can still shift easily. I'm 6'-2" tall so I'm near the max height for a stang. I do like the Steeda Shifter bushings that replace the stock rubber isolator.I would look into these. I find my shifts are more precise. It's also my only option since I want to stay 100% stock minus the Filter. I am putting in a K&N Filter.

I just installed a Tri-Ax this past week and the handle is in the lowest setting. I am 6'1" as well and my seat is all the way back as far as it will go. My seatback position is average and I have no trouble at all reaching or shifting with the new shifter. The only thing that i am experiencing is going from 1st to 4th because the shifter is so solid now. I need to train myself to get a more solid grip on the shifter and to keep a little more lefthand pressure on it so that it goes into 2nd. This is an issue with me though and not the shifter. I also installed a K&N and removed the air silencer and it is alot louder at WOT now. These are the only 2 mods that I plan on doing to the car because i want to keep it stock. We've had a bout of 70 degree weather here this week and the car runs great. I am not even noticing the cold death rattle at 3k rpm when its this nice outside. Bottom line, install ths shifter, you wont be disappointed and it wont be a problem unless you drive around like one of the homies in the hood with your seat all the way back.

With the Tri-Ax on the lowest setting I had a hard time reaching 3rd and 5th. I'm 6'1" and all my height is in my legs.
I then installed the MGW shifter arm on the tri-ax in the lowest setting and now have no problems reaching. It's beautiful! All gears fall into hand nicely. Not much room for big drinks in the front cupholder...but then again if it were my choice I would never install cupholders in a sportscar anyway  !
My wife hears this line a lot...

Cool, it must have been his seat being reclined like “homies in the hood”. Now that I think about it, when I see him driving, I only see his eyes up. Can’t see how people drive laying down like that.

Thanks!

I am 6'6 yup.. I need to do the seat mod to move it back a bit. IF you set the tri ax on the higher setting it is no biggy... the MGW handle will help as well....

6'6"! What mod to the seat did you do, and how difficult was it? I am only 6'3" but would like an extra inch or so.

I am with roushraven99. I use the MGW shifter arm with a PRO 5.0. The PRO 5.0 handle is very short. The MGW can be adjusted 20 ways to Sunday.

I'm not over 6", only 5"10", but I have long arms and long legs. I don't find the throw on lower setting too uncomfortable. Like anything else, it just takes a little getting used to. Once you get used to it, I don't think you'll go to a longer throw....

Depends on the car. I "drive laying down like that" in my '94 Cougar, but I can't do that in the Bullitt because of the clutch. I'm 5'10" but drive that way simply because it's safer (further away from the airbag) and more comfortable. (In that car, I don't drive in a way that I can't see the above the steering wheel, but I sit further back and more leaned back than most people would, with the seat height set quite high...)
