Scanned a few old threads on tuning. My takeaways were: get a tune vs. don't bother (no real ROI)....some folks happy with canned tune (no clear winner on who from) vs. only get a custom tune (dyno if possible). Any new developments that would lead to a clear choice? Thanks.

For the S197 08/09 Bullitt, the OEM tune is adapativeable with varied octanes as it has a knock sensor. So you can run 87 to 93 octane and the tune will adjust. And the 08/09 Bullitt was Ford's first with an OEM Cold Air Intake.
So for an occasional or daily driver with no engine external mods beyond underdrive pulleys, throttle body spacer or air filters, the OEM tune is GREAT.
What does the throttle body spacer do? Thanks.

I tried a variety of aftermarket tuners on my former '08 Bullitt. All of them caused issues w/the exception of one: STEEDA. My car only had basic bolt-ons but I think the OE adaptive tune really screwed w/stuff. STEEDA had it figured out tho & I had no regrets w/their tune. I've since used only STEEDA on my other Stangs & never an issue on any of them.

Does STEEDA have a canned Bullitt tune? or did they "customize" a GT tune based on questions they supplied/input you provided? Thanks.
