The Bullitt comes from the factory with Ford underdrive pulleys yet I have noticed some Bullitt owners have replaced them with other brands. Why? Are there higher hp gains with other brands such as Steeda?

From what I understand the only pullies underdriven on our cars are the Alternator and water pump?
The Crank pulley.. the one where most of your underdrive gains are to be made, is still the same size as stock.

I'm not running the Longtubes or the O/R Pipe but I'm going to add JBA Cat4ward Ceramics and get a fresh tune on the chip. What I'm hoping for is to get close to 260 RWHP and 300 RWTQ with shorty headers and my current mods. I think it is very achievable based upon my current results. What are your thoughts on this?

Bullitt680,

In my past experience shorty headers have only proven worth it in terms of performance gains in a supercharged application. On my 99 coupe I only gained about 8 rwhp N/A. If you plan to stay N/A (or supercharge later) then I would highly recommend the long tube headers. So far at least three other Bullittheads have made equal gains (Brad1790, Bullitt208, and me). Cost and time for install is generally the same. for both. Either way with your current mods and a tune either set will get you comfortably on your target of 260/300. Stay tuned --- Arthur
