I was on the DMV website today and saw this:

Evidently the state has developed this program to get vintage-look plates for any year vehicle. You can get gold/black, black/gold, or blue/gold, personalized or sequential for $50. If the program gets 7500 pre-paid applications before January 2015, the program goes forward. If not, you get your money back, assuming the state hasn't gone broke and spent it by then.

I have to assume you've already pre-ordered JJZ 109.
Part of the fine print is it can't conflict with an existing license plate series currently issued, so I'm assuming that plate won't be available. But that doesn't mean I haven't tried:smile:

This is better news than back when California was going to try to take away my Original black and gold plate on my '69... I'm grateful they didn't do that and I still have it.

Suzanne put applications in for the black/gold plate that was on her parent's (then hers) long gone '67 coupe. That combo would look good on the Bullitt. She also applied for the blue/gold plate that was on her '76 Cobra which will probably just end up on the garage wall. Who knows if any will ever happen but kind of fun to play around with it.

Well, Suzanne got a call back from DMV yesterday (Saturday no less!) on her applications. Seems both the plate numbers she applied for are still in the system so can't be reissued. Cool 'cause that means that her two previous Mustangs may still be in existence but bad 'cause we really wanted that '67 number combo for the B. I know you can order sequential plates but we really want to end up with a combo that was originally issued from '67 or '68 and will have to find out if there is some way to pick from a list of "open" plates within that range.

Has anyone else who's applied to this program heard back from the DMV yet?

Run those black and golds all the time.....

....in East Coast parking lots!!!

Just a note, window louvres are on the quarters again. The trim in the photos was just an experiment.

Great news! Perhaps DMV meet their quota. What letters or numbers did you pick?

I put down 3 different options, and the one that was stamped on the back of the check near the endorsement line was MSTGFRK (Mustang Freak) so im assuming thats the one that was approved so i think i'll be putting that plate on my 67 mustang
