I have an acquaintance who is a welder, and if welding the SFC's is as easy a job as it looks like it would be (for a welder), I think I can get the stock SFC's welded for nothing/next to nothing.

However, he's not necessarily an automotive welder.

What (if any) special concerns are there regarding welding in the stock SFC's? A particular type of welding I shoudl suggest to him? Buying aftermarket SFC's is not an option. (Presently.)

Would I need to do anything special to the weld area? I figured I'd shoot the weld with undercoating afterwards...

Thanks!

Check your owners manual or a service manual. There are certain procedures you will have to follow when welding on the chasis, especially arc weldind-to protect the electronic components.
