Official Bullitt definition:

Second least desired BULLITT color, desired by BULLITT Buyers. First least desired color, Blue. Most Desired being Dark Highland Green. Not to imply that any of these colors are ugly, because they are not.

Black Bullitt...I looked it up in the Oxford Dictionary (I always carry in my pocket)...
"Bulletous Blackeous...
1. A nocturnal creature that mercilessly destroys other four-rubbered vehicles by moonlight 2. A man made device that turns men into boys, and boys into men 3. Any work of limited art, of which few colors are produced, but of which black is the most beautiful 4. Something, upon exiting a corner, that makes the owner smile and the wife giggle."

I'm not sure which definition you're looking for, but maybe they all apply?

It's the color they painted Bullitts after they ran out of Dark Highland Green. They used Blue too.

I just picked up the newest edition of the Oxford Dictionary this morning. It appears that Dennis is just making that stuff up. The definition in my earlier post is correct.

Well His bullittchick you must be thinking I was talking about horsepower. I was merely discussing surface temperature. I wish you would quit following me around disagreeing with me all the time.

Right on D.H.G.#1994! We started with an '84 Grand National and after that we were hooked on black cars!

Sorry but
black is the best looking Bullitt color in relation to the interior and brushed alum accents-take a look at the center caps of the wheels-black background, take a look at the door sill-Bullit is gone in black with the brushed alum background, look at the mirrors-they blend in with the car and not some appendage sticking out. NOW-What could of and should of been the color of the Bullitt? - ONLY one simple answer--The ORIGINAL Highland Green. Too bad Ford chose not use that color--those above who claim to have the 'original' Bullitt color--sorry you are no where near close (and close only counts in horseshoes). Get your hands on a 68 in the original Highland Green and you will see the difference-it is major. Drk Highland Green is an entirely different color taken from Ford's truck line-up. Ford didn't want the cost (and trying to force dealer's to stock of a special color for so few cars) so a dark green truck paint already in Ford's inventory was used instead. So as much as you consider Black and Green to be incorrect--well sorry that same 'incorrectness' also applies to Dark Highland Green. I love my Bullitt don't get me wrong its just that none of the colors are 'original' something you DHG folks need to realize--your color is just as much a Ford invention as Black and Blue.
