I just bought the Magnaflow x-pipe, after much research on this same subject. I was told by several sources, including a Bassani dealer, that they are not making their x-pipe the way that they used to. It is now a 3-piece instead of 1-piece, and they are using lower quality cats since they stopped getting them from Magnaflow. There are many good choices out there, but all I can say is that the sound is incredible with the Magnaflow x-pipe and Spin Tech ProStreet mufflers. It feels much stronger, but I will see how much hp gain I got from the x-pipe and Diablo chip next week on the dyno. I'm done with exhaust mods, I wouldn't change a thing at this point.

I have heard Jay's Magnaflow X pipe with cats and Spintech mufflers up close and personal. His ride has the most awesome sound on earth. I can hear him coming a half mile away. Makes my setup sound meek and mild. Oh...if I only could do it all over again!

I have the Magna Flow X and the cat back. I am impressed with it. I would prefer it to be a little louder but the wife already thinks it is loud enough. I have also heard a few people with X-pipes tripping the check engine light but I have not expercienced this with the Magna Flow.

I had the Bassani X with magnaflows on my 2000GT. It sounded good but more exotic sounding.... and I lost low end tq and it was big money.

On my bullitt I put on a Mac O/R H and kept the stock cat back and it sounds great (Muscle Car) with nice power increase. Plus it is only 110.

Doug

do a serch on the board I have videos of it on here somewhere with links to the videos...

I also got Magnaflow X-pipe through Houston Performance. It sounds awsome. He showed me a dyno result on a Bullitt with the Magnaflow X-pipe (12 rwhp). He also showed me a 2002 GT with Magnaflow x-pipe and catback system (21 rwhp). Pretty impressive numbers.

Black Bullitt V, like a few others here, I also got my Magnaflow x-pipe from Houston Performance, it cost $407 delivered, and arrived in 2 days. It was a perfect bolt-on, no problems with fit or leaks. I took a chance on the Spin Tech ProStreet mufflers, since I'd never actually heard them, but I wouldn't change for anything now!! They do have a full cat-back system, but I wanted to keep my stock tips, so I just had the mufflers welded in. The guys that installed them also installed my x-pipe, and they didn't like the Spin Techs until they heard mine. Apparantely they are well-matched with the 4.6L engine. They told me that a full cat-back with bigger pipes really wouldn't offer much more performance, so I'm leaving it as is. I'm not sure how they compare with Borla, they are a completely different design than any of the other mufflers out there. One of the best things about them is that they do not drone, they just purr at highway speeds, and that was important to me. I'm sure you can't go wrong with Borla, but if you want to check out Spin Tech, go here: http://www.spintechmufflers.com

I got the Bassani X-Pipe w/cats. It's true that it comes in 3 pieces. I also got 3 chamber Flowmasters. I like the way the Flowmasters sound, I have always used them on my cars and trucks, so I might be a little ignorant on the other brands.

A co-worker of mine has a 2000GT with 3-chamber Flowmasters. He said the drone is really bad on the highway, that is why I stayed away from them, I drive over 100 miles a day, all highway. I was surprised when we listened to them side-by-side, I thought mine would be quieter since they don't drone, but his are quieter, go figure!

hey moljay just checked out the spin tech site..thanx for the info...a couple of more questions for you...first which size inlet/outlet did you get...and second in your opinion are the mufflers ticket loud?? where i live the cops are kind of a pain in the you know what...so if its too loud then im gonna get a ticket and theyre gonna come right off (for sheriffs inspection..I have heard the borlas on bassani x with cats...they are not too loud if you keep the rpsm low...what about your exhaust...can you keep it super quiet if you keep the rmp in the 1500 to 2000 range ?
and did you lose any low end torque...thanks for all your information...

paging: Forced, How can you describe the tone of your bullitt with the bassani x pipe. I have the 50 Series 3 Chamber Flowmasters with the stock h pipe and i love the way it sounds. Did you do the install at the same time (with the bassani and flowmaster) or at different times? I was just wondering if you were able to compare the sounds.
