when really cold my car whistles from
2000 to 2200rpm.(anyone else have this
problem?)
once it warms up it goes away.
Anybody know what it could be?

Wonder if it could be your alternator? Done an underhood check yet?

no underhood check yet. but the sound is definitly coming from under the hood. i dont really want to take it in. need help

TwoStang you are terrible! (in a good way)

One possibilty is the tensioner pulley. When these go bad they make a whistling noise. This is where I would begin my search.

I also have recently noticed a whistle noise on cold startup. It only lasts about 5-10 seconds. I thought it might be a belt...any additional info would be appreciated...#4813

Norman,

only thing I can think of is that you are spinning fast enough at 2000rpm to make the noise, but the exhaust sound is still qiuet enough it doesn't drown it out.

I mentioned the tensioner pulley because it is commone for them to go out. Especially as the cars get more miles on them. The sign that it is starting to go is that it whistles.

hot or cold no diff.
took it many time in for this they could not
figure it out
