I put in Syn. on my very first oil change @ 3000 miles - Mobil-1 ...it's ALOT more expensive it seems at first but it lasts as long as 2 regular oil changes would. So it really isn't any more money.

I put it in at 5000 miles and will change it every 5000. That way it is easy to remember and follows the owner's manual time table.

Many of the sellers of synthetics will say to switch to their products after there is 5k miles on the engine, some up to 7k miles.

Search for some of the posts here by "Bobistheoilguy" for more info on this subject.

These oil posts always get as much conterversy as exhaust mods. Will throw my 50 years of modifying, overworking, and generally enjoying max performance in everything I own. Went exclusively with Mobil 1 over 25 years ago, when it was thought of as snake oil, smoke&mirrors, pricey, and a few other horror stories. But the true stories of the cold lubrication problems in WW II and the same principal could be used in our everyday oil. Cold cranking in Michigan at 15 below will make a believer out of you.The hot extremes are as impressive. I use it in my lawn mowers, air compressors, generator, and a half dozen cars and trucks. How soon do I put it in ?? DHG 5291 went from the dealer to here....Exactly 2 and 3/10 miles. That may be radical in your book but I can ride it hard and put it away wet and sleep well knowing that modular will last as long as the body.Ill get off my soap box now. Thanks.

Amsoil owns the patent on synthetic oil. All brands of synthetic oil are the same. That is why you will never see any oil claim their synthetic oild is better or out performs any other synthetic oil. All brands of synthetic oil are the same. It does not matter what brand you buy.

You might want to check that info. Looking at a bottle of Amsoil, there is not one SINGLE patent number on the label...

The only 100% pure synthetic oil on the market that I am aware of is "SYNLUBE". All others are blends and they are not the same. The two base oils blended with synthetic are Naphthenic and Paraffin. Consideration must also be given to the additive package.

There would be plenty of room to change the process and use a different technique or chemical to break the patent, no way could they keep it for any length of time.

Plus Amsoil has been around since the early 70's and the patents I believe only run around 20 years, so even at best the early 90's it would have been up.

They way these amsoil dealers are if that were true they would have it plastered all over the internet. They keep spouting lies so why wouldn't they tell the truth about the patents?
