I have an old Air & Space Smithsonian magazine that has an article about finding a P-38 in the Arctic - under like 50 feet of snow - and they brought it up piece by piece and restored it. The mag was like 1992 and they just finished the restoration this or last year. I think it's "Glacier Girl" they mention in that article.

Yeah, every so often they run that on the discovery channel.:cool: They have it flying at the end of the program, I think it's a couple maybe three hours long. They show the entire reclaimation and restoration project. Allot of the actual plane is totally crushed ( like a soft drink can) and use as a pattern for remanufactured parts. The engines were OK to rebuild though.
