If X pipes like straight through mufflers, and H's like chambered, how much would be lost using an X on a chambered muffler? does anyone have a sound bite of their bull with an X or H pipe with the stock cat back?
I don't have any files, but the X-pipe will change the throaty Bullitt sound more to a smoother higher pitch. I have a Dr.Gas 3 inch setup on my 85 LX,with Flowmaster mufflers. It makes a heck of a scream at 6000 RPM! But it is not the typical musclecar sound, only at idle. I think it is the best system I have had on it.
I have the O/R X with the stock cat back and it isn't metalic sounding. It just sounds mean and nasty but smooth. I was going to put on straight through magnaflows but it sounds to good now to change it.
It has a low rumble sound at low rpm's and has a higher screaming sound at higher rpm's, but not a metalic sound.
I'm very happy with mine and I know you would like it too!
Sorry, I don't know how to do a sound file.
I put on Flowtech and the install wasn't that bad. I took it to a muffler shop after I got it on to adjust everything and weld it together. That cost $70 but worth it.
