I was driving through Georgetown, Tx last Saturday when I got pulled over for doing 84 in a 65. (Oops!) (Good thing he didn't catch me about a minute before doing 90!)

The very nice (and handsome) police officer, after telling me how fast I was going, said, "It's the car, right?" Of course, all I could do was grin. He then said.....get a load of this...."Your car just got you out of a ticket, but I am going to give you a written warning."

When he returned with my warning, the first thing he asked was what number it was. He then proceeded to tell me about his buddy who got number 444 (I believe) etc. etc.

True story.

Number 444(?), if you're out there...tell your friend I say thanks!!!

LOL I got Pulled over for the same thing. 84 in a 65,there was a rig infront of me doing 80 so i figured i would be ok and hope in front of him ( dont like being behind because of the rock) so I drop it down into forth and lay into it got up to about 110 when i started to slow down and wham here comes a cop. I think what saved me the ticket is the fact that I pulled over before he even got his lights on. Turned the car off and had my hands on the wheel. I dont know how he only got me at 84 but feeeeeewww, that and my dl was infront of my Military ID and he saw it. because of the nice officer not rigthing me a ticket My record will be clean when I get back from this deployment

Nice story . I have a few friends that are police officers, and they like fast cars as much as I do . Plus it never hurts to be cute<G>.

Take care and watch those mirrors.

I wonder if I should even ADMIT this but....I kinda wonder what that would feel like...the lights in the rear view, being pulled over...I'm sure it's an adrenaline rush, even if you SAY you're not scared! I kinda like living life on the edge....but, I don't speed, so I'd have to be pulled over for something else......sigh.

Dona, you mean you never even go 5 miles over the speed limit?!!! What if someone comes up at a light and reves his engine. You would just take off without recognition and go about your way? Now that, sister, is what owning a Bullitt is all about. The enjoyment you get when you spank someone's a** and then they give you thumbs up at the next light!

Well, there's the REAL reason. In 4 years of dating, my girlfriend through part of HS & college got pulled over numerous times & only got one ticket. & my wife got pulled over doing 90 in a 65 & only got a ticket for no front plate. She was in the Bullitt, too. If there were more female cops, maybe I wouldn't have been ticketed so much in the past.

I can't possibly see how both halves of this statement can be true.

when i got my ticket i was passing a big rig uphill. I wanted past him due to the rocks, etc, and so when i went flying by him right in front of him was a cop van with his lights already on by the time i was beside him. when he pulled me over, he said he could understand me wanting past the truck but said i didn't slow back down...to me, he didn't give me much of a chance with his lights already on.he also said i had no seatbelt on but i did....after sitting in his van he came back and said it was my doorlock that looked like my seatbelt buckle and then crossed off the seatbelt fine(85$)then dropped my speeding fine from $173 to $115. So I suppose all was not too bad that morning.

DHG - It IS true, both halves. I like living life on the edge, but I'm not about to put someone else's life in danger while I'm doing it...i.e. speeding! I will skydive, bungee jump, wing walk, you name it, but I don't do things that could hurt other people. SO, yes, both halves can and are true! Make sense?

I do NOT speed on side streets, in town or residential areas. I think I posted this some time back. However, yes, I will do maybe 5 over on the highway, but around here, they aren't going to pull you over for that. Also, punching it from a stand still (at a light) isn't exactly speeding and yes, I've done this a time or two. But, as far as whoopin' someone's butt, well, for some reason, nobody has challenged me. Maybe because I'm a "lady" and they figure ladies don't do that. But, I have chirped the tires a coupla times and left a traffic light rather fast, but I'm careful not to be putting anyone in danger when I do.

Oooh, I'm soundly chastised!

I was only poking fun, hope that was clear!

One could argue that speed does not become dangerous to others unless you are truly being excessive or are in heavy traffic, but as I'm guilty of both offenses (not together), I probably shouldn't go down that road...

I just don't want to ever have to BE in that situation..where I've caused a wreck and I was speeding...I don't want that hanging over my head. I've been in SEVEN wrecks in my life, yep, seven, none have been my fault...4 were the result of speeding drivers....so, I'm unlucky as heck, but I keep my eyes peeled when I'm in Bulletta! HA!

Oh, I KNOW you were joking, just telling ya why both halves of my statement were true...I'll try anything...once, twice....maybe more if I like it! I see those folks on "Fear Factor" and I'm like "yeah, I'd do that!"

When I was teaching her to drive, I would put my hand in front of the rear view mirror and expect Laura to tell me what kind and color of cars were behind us. "Check Six, Kid." I expected that she would speed, so I wanted her to be a skilled driver.

Unlike Dona, I think speeding is a good thing. It's fun and it's healthy for Americans to demonstrate to Authority that we citizens are a free and independent people.

This and other threads also are living proof that police officers (many of them) are regular folks and don't mind a little fun as long as it's not dangerous. Unskilled and and inattentive driving are dangerous. Well done speed is simply fun.

Laura needs to check six more and better.

Focus too long on "checking your six" may cause you to not pay attention to the front as much as would be safe...no long stares in the mirror! I'm sure you know that of course, I'm just reiterating the fact because it's 2 am and I'm a bored bullitthead junkie. I like the hand over the mirror thing though...sounds like a great tool, as long as they're not staring to try identify the types of cars that are behind them.
