My dad bought a Z06 back in August of last year. It sits next to 717 in the garage daily.(need to get a pic up soon)I've driven it several times, as well as letting a few friends of mine drive it. We can all agree on one thing, the Z06 is way better performance wise, but we all like the Bullitt better. The Z06 is in no way a street car. Too low, fast, powerful, and stiff. I'm not trying to down talk it, but for a daily driver, the Bullitt is much better. Being 6' 3", the Bullitt sure is easier to get in and out of! What do you guys think?

The Z-06 not a street car?? Come on man.sure it is.Depends on the person's definition of Street. It has to be that way, suspension wise to handle the power a high speed. I bet it really smooths out at over 120! My 85 LX rides like a truck, compared to the Bullitt, but they have two different purposes..Bullitt an excellent all round performance street machine.....My 85 LX sneaky little, light street/strip screamer,to handle those Z-06s....well only up to 120 in a straight line!

No no no, what I meant by 'street car' was that to go out have fun with(extreme level), drive daily, be hard on, or possibly break something, it's too expensive, unless you're mega rich. But yeah it handles ROCK SOLID atleast to 135(fast as I've had it) and it's loads of fun. I shouldn't have said it's not a street, but merely just too fragile, cause if it hits something, it will shatter like a wine glass.

I've read the Z06 is a hell of a track car right out of the box as well. Chevrolet flew one to Europe to test in the wet against A couple of Exotics (Porsche 911, Ferrari 550, and among others) and believe it or not the Vette lapped faster, barely. I have not looked at them the same since.

The Vette is right up there, if not better performing, than the Porsche 911 Turbo, the Ferrari 360 Modena, as well as a few others. It is by far the best performing sports car for the money (off the dealer lot). I would still rather drive a Ferrari, even if it was not as good as a performer...the quality and sound of the Ferrari engines is to die for!

Sorry, but there is no question about it. I would take the American muscle hands down. Just my preference. I saw a convertible red Ferrari the other day at the traffic light. When it drove off, sounded like a ricer wanna-be...sorry. No comparison to our Bullitt's even. I know, I know, there are many reasons to buy the exotic cars, but for the price and performance, like I said, I'll take the Corvette.

717,

I agree with you. I'd take the Bullitt any day myself. With the extra cash I would have had to spend to get a Z06 I could make the Bullitt out perform the Vette all the way around. I've had my Vette.... And I realized. Even if it is a Vette, It's still a GM.

Test drove a 2001 385 HP ZO6 and it was nice. I traded my 1999 Corvette Hartop (which evolved into the ZO6) and noticed an
appreciable difference between the Hardtop and ZO6. (Hardtop had 345 HP) I miss the HP from the Vettes but the sound and retro made me trade in for the Bullitt. BTW, NEVER getting rid of the Bullitt. (1 year only production got me hooked on the Bullitt too)

I've driven my 02 Z06 everyday for the last 7 weeks since picking it up (1500 miles). Outstanding daily driver. Ride is exceptional considering the performance envelope potential on a road course. No squeaks, no rattles, just solid. Takes bumps very nicely with the IRS rear. I've had friends who drive Mercedes ride with me and say "this is a Vette????..."

Trust me guys, you would have to spend a small FORTUNE modding a Bullitt to even approach the handling of this Z06 (and of course, bye-bye warranty).

$ for $, the Z is the best bang-for-buck in the automotive world.

I don't disagree with you at all, alas as a college student I can't afford the vette just yet. My father has always been a vette guy, and my friend with his ZO6 confirms its greatness. But the old saying that the mustang is the 'poor man's corvette' I think is very true. Even after law school when presumably I will have a better income than now, the mustang will still retain a place in my heart.

I think even after owning the cars of my dreams, I will still want to keep my mustangs around solely because of my glory days as a young man with them. That's why I want a 7-10 car garage . That ought to be enough room to keep all of my dream cars. I might even keep my POS 93 Geo Storm so I can make my eventual children drive it to high school and college. That will teach them if they don't go into the service.
