Hi Guys,
The dates are all the same for us. Production (job 2, which means production begins for a 2008.5 vehicle) is December.

At dealers: January-February.

BUT!

Recent facts:
If you are a NASCAR fan you have noticed the pace cars at recent cup races. Shelby Mustangs ... Mustang GTs. None of us could possibly miss that!

So .... KEEP WATCHING! (of course!)

Offical unveiling is in LA on the 14th of November. But no special engine or other surprises in that area.

what other surprises could there be? no engine drivetrain surprises? no interior/exterior surprises? how bout a price surprise, under 34? come one ford we want a 5.4!

i am taking it that a bullitt will not be at sema in three weeks?

Hmm, not a big NASCAR fan, but I'll certainly keep an eye out!

The specs are in the first post of this thread. The price is still unknown - that, along with where it will debut, are the main surprises left.

yea i saw it. they did leave out one very important spec though! 4.6l or 5.4l? i see nothing of that nature in the newest spec sheet.

I don't think any of us miss seeing Mustangs or Shelbys as pace cars it's just that we expect to see them there and take it for granted when they are ... :~))

The 2008 order guide specifies the Bullitt option (54B) added to a Mustang GT Premium, which has the 4.6L V8. As mentioned by droopysbullitt, the anticipated power output is 312hp.

so we cant dream?

the bullitt will be a nice car. though it would have been a hell of a lot nicer with a n/a al 5.4 in it! oh well might just have to pick up a cts-v then!

An heavy iron-block 5.4L V8, in my opinion, would negate the handling balance such that it would be not in keeping with the character established in the 2001. An aluminum one would have been nice.

A CTS-V is a totally different driving experience, more in the realm of a BMW M5 rather than a 2-door sports coupe.

I like the styling of the 2008 CTS.

We don't know what the 5.4 iron block would drive like until we drive one; same goes for the 5.4 aluminum block. With the BULLIITT alleged suspension mods we don't know what that will drive like with the aluminum 4.6, nor the aluminum 4.6 compared to the iron 4.6, etc., etc., UNTIL WE DRIVE ONE.

We can speculate on the driving/handling forever. Since we won't have those options AS WE REALLY SHOULD we will never know. Maybe the iron or aluminum 5.4(s) would drive and handle better?

Shelbys don't seem to have any complaints about the handling of the GT 500 with 5.4 iron block at all !!!

Some buyers may not care what the 5.4 drives like from the factory as long as they got a 5.4 they wouldn't have to install later in place of a 4.6 engine. It is far easier for some folks to mod the suspension of a car than it is for them to do engine swaps.

I'd gladly trade the "better driving" of a 4.6 for the performance of a factory-installed 5.4, then later see what the aftermarket provides to tune the suspension for the car with the 5.4 engine.

I'm sure most folks would agree with me, especially if they had the choices they should really have.

being tuned on the ring is a big plus! then you have the decent handling of 67mph through the slalom and .90 skidpad result. both of these numbers are very good for a 2 or 4 door vehicle.

the main reason i like the v so much is that its a great looking car that has a n/a 400hp motor and 6 speed manual! all the better that its a 50k car, and you can now purchase one 3/4 years old for 25k. but the best part is its easy to hit 8.0 lb/hp at the crank(meaning over 430hp to wheels) in this car. which makes it a great sports car regardless of doors!

oh yea if a family comes along i would not need to sell it.

but back to the bullitt. i love the green sleek clean look of the new mustang! i just wish ford would grow some balls and put a n/a 380-400 engine in the mustang so it could double as a great weekend track car. the bullitt would be a great platform for this coming out party! not to mention a great marketing tool against the new 09 425hp camaro's.

Beautifully said and articulated. :~))

I'd settle for a Mustang with the 4.6 that's in my Marauder, all aluminum 4V and pretty. . .Marauder's 4.6-liter aluminum V8, with twin cams on top and 32 valves in the cylinders, gushes to 302 hp at 5750 rpm and makes 318 lb-ft of torque at 4300 rpm

A Shelby GT appears to be a reasonable approximation of a 4.6 aluminum engine with the speculated suspension upgrades.

Based on the weight differential, adding over 100 lbs to the front end would result in a change in the weight distribution from 53/47. We can specify the precise spring rates, but it seems clear work would have to be done.

A number of enthusiast magazines have called attention to "wallowy handling" and understeer in the stock GT500 set-up. That is not to say that the handling is "bad", but it does speak to the fact the influence of the weight can be felt at the limit when cornering.

Sure, some people might not care. Getting the balance does require some tuning work and someone who is marketing a suspension upgrade package would have to spend engineering time.

See GT500!

Depends on your definition of "most" and how much people are willing to pay, of course.
